Thanks bro TK, Eddy and Vic.

Here's a diagram of my TT. 1st & 3rd tray - bioballs, 2nd & 4th tray - ceramic rings. Sieve has been replaced by a piece of normal cotton wool filter washed twice a day. Water clarity has improved significantly and if you watch the video at 0.45secs, you can see the showa eating off the bottom of the pond clearly. That is the deepest part at 3 feet.

Video of pond coming to 3 weeks after installing the TT.

    Thanks sis @jang :)

Here's an update on the latest changes I've made to my pond starting with the additional layer of orchid netting that significantly reduced the amount of sunlight entering the pond, which in return solved my hair algae problem (all gone in 2 weeks). Water temp has reduced and kois can be seen happily swimming around (hungrily as well) during midday. Using metal rods as stakes, the orchid netting is hooked onto the rods using cable tie loops. This makes it much easier to remove|reattach and definitely looks better than using bricks to weigh the net down. Water parameters Nitrite, Ammonia - 0, Nitrate - 10, pH 7.8

    www.koianswers.com/discussion/download/11896/IMG_20130213_093549.jpg

With the hair algae gone, I've replaced all of my old jap mats in chamber 2. The configuration as follow - 2 layers horizontally placed at the bottom of the chamber and the rest of the vertical ones as shown in the photo below.

    www.koianswers.com/discussion/download/11897/IMG_20130213_093430.jpg

Updated pond video. Previously the base of my pond was black in color which was actually hair algae. Now that is all gone and the whole pond is now light green.

Will take a video of my trickle tower later today as I find this to be the key contributor in the well being of my pond :) (many thanks goes out to sifu @megatron for pointing out the lack of water turnover in my pond)

Sorry for this long thread of my pond dairy. :">

Bro @boertokoi - haha actually planning a 50 ton in the backyard but afraid HM will cut me into small pieces and feed to the kois :-))

Bro @Eddy - did you put single or double layer netting? Mine only worked once I added the second layer. Pond is now 90% covered from sunlight. My trickle tower helped as well since my water flow rate is now doubled and added filtration to remove waste.

Bro @tswern - ya built one more than a month back :) no regrets man (Y)

Thanks bro for all the kind feedback :)

    Hi Kevin,

Nice meeting you the other day. Your tancho and shiro definitely look better in actual.

You can build bigger than 30ton pond so long as you can maintain it filter or otherwise use bead filter which requires less maintenance work.

Keep in touch and happy koi keeping.
