This hobbyist have been keeping kois for few years, and during this year, pond have been build and rebuild 2 times. He approached but due other projects on going and his tight budget, i cannot do it. Building a right pond is always expensive and more expensive is not built properly, and he know, because he been there, twice
Although i cannot build it, but i will design for him, lend him one of my pond supervisor staff. I will coordinate with my staff for the entire project, so i only visit 2 times during the construction and it turn out very well.

    Here the initial design :
    Pond : 5 x 2,4 x (0,8 - 1,1m)
    Filter : 0,8 x 2,4 x 1,1m
    Shower/biological filter : 0,5 x 2,4 x 0,8m

Although very rarely to found any leak in properly done pond, a leak test is require, total 2days ensure no leaking and pond water was drawn and let it dry for 28 days before waterproofing.
Unfortunately, no photos taken during the waterponding time. But the waterponding i use for some year will be availble soon in Malaysia market.

Today i visit this pond, and very happy with the result. Kois settle very well and begging for Food. Only small incident when a new fish enter without enough quarantine time, a week after all fish enter, from his stock and few pcs from me. But all is under control and with simple magic wand, everything under control. Biological filter is stable and can begin to bulk the kois after 3 months with minimum food.

I will update the filtration system which is very small and simple. But it works very well.

    Bro Harry,

Need some guidance on few things:
    1) "A 6 inch bypassing pipe for pond medication or circulation at lower level of pond water". What is this Bro Harry?

    2) I can see the BD is located at end of the pond, nearer to filter. Need your advice, which is better, BD at end of the pond or center of the pond?

    3) The water inlet to pond is only from Bakki Shower? Would the current sufficient enough Bro Harry.

Currently my BD at center of pond and water inlet for pond in circular motion with the help of under water jet. Due to this, I dont have any floating particles and all solids sucked by BD to filter. So though of maintain same concept for my new pond. Please advice your thoughts

Sorry for asking too many question bro Harry and Thanks in advance :)

Thanks all brothers for the response,
@pslong and few bros that pm me about the price, for this pond at a minimum standard, it cost around IDR 2,5m-3,5m (approx RM750-1200) perton.

@kaaj, the pond water is around 80-110cm. 40cm below ground, 70+10cm above ground. The purpose is for backwashinG direct to sewage, so no need to prepare sump chamber+pump which will increase cost. And luckily this pond survive the flood last week

@TK, answering your question as follow :
    1. Filter chamber usually consist up and down wall partition, when water level drop below standing wall, water cannot pass to next chamber, and pump cannot, this can happen during massive water change, pond treatmen, etc. By using bypass pipe, we just pull the standing pipe, and water can pass tto pump chamber even if water as low as 30-50cm. Pipe diameter and how many pcs you need depend on you water turrn over.

    2. The shorTer your BD pipe mean less debris may settle inside the pipe. And when you pull BD standing pipe, easier to clean it. For the lastt 10 years, i have been building straight flow pond,it is better IMO. But the negative is debris movement in pond bottom is a little slower, especially is you have algae carpet on pond bottom. So for stRaight flow system, you need to Feed with sinking food. It help the debris movement when koi crawl at pond bottom.

    3. Water current should be sufficient depend on you pond length and circulation. The point is to feed sinking food (can be mixed with floating) and pond not too deep. If you see bro David pond, all return also at end side, but direct from pump

    @kwchan,

I had visited the pond yesterday, but as always, forget to take photo. When chat about water, pond, koi, eveRything seen doesn't matter anymore :) i will update when i visit the pond.

The system very simple, 1st chamber is from BD and call reaction chamber where i put aeration and mAke all poluttant move to 2nd chamber which i use screen sieve as mechanical filter, below 2 layer japmat+filter cloth, next chamber is pump chamber. So 2nd and 3rd chamber is pump chamber because it is connected.

Have 2 pump, 1 pump to sand filter which he alreadyhave frrom prev pond. The other is smaller pump for precaution if another pump broken. All pump to Bakki and return to pond. Bio media consist only brush, bioball and crystall bio from old pond, and the media is not much. Brush here change function asbiological instead of mechanical, so no need to spend more money.

    Bro Adik,
The waterproofing (waterponding) is local manufactured using Australia technology. During R&D, the factory involve me as a tester until it finally release a few years ago. Although at first difficult to ensure people to use it because of higher price but now almost pond in here use this FLEXYCOAT. And i asked them to make the blue color is because the reason You post above. Some debris may attach in filter wall and it will be missed in filter paint in black.

At first, this product was apply using roller or brush, but the result have brush mark. But now, with new technique i experimenting and report to the manufacture, the result is much better. It attach much better, smooth finish like using spray gun, and faster paining process. For 6x4x1m pond, can b done in 1 day with 2-3layer with 2 wokers.

As a gratitute, the offer me to introduce for export. And for 1st step we are exporting to Malaysia with Yamakoshi Mura as sold agent, and hope it will be available soon. Right now we in final stage on exporting and importing document.

    Hi Bro Harry,

    Few Qs.

1st chamber. you use air to blow up the debris and solid to be trapped by the sieve in 2nd chamber? is that the reason?

2nd chamber under the seive, do you use mat? if so what type, how many layers? Do you just lay them on top each other or with some gap?

Thanks , very simple and effective set up.

    Bro Zul,

    1. Previously we all use settlement chamber or vortex, but backwashing is waste of water, this design i use so no more waste settle. Waste collected to screen and clean daily.

    2. I put 2 layers japmat below screen + filter cloth for final mechanical filtration
