Hi mrkoi, thanks for your kind words. It's a pleasure to hear from you.

The female oyagoi is about 80cm, while the males range from 60-70++cm.

Yes, 8 males were used, as majority of them were very young fishes that just turned maturity, only about 2 years and few months of age at time of breeding. Thankfully, most eggs were fertilized and hatched into tiny little fries! :)

Breeding is indeed a lot of hard manual work, and for us, requires loads of patience and love for kois, in order to keep the koi spawning and caring for baby koi fries going. But, we always enjoy every single stages of koi breeding process; from choosing the right combination of parent fishes (oyagois), to spawning and fertilization of eggs, from nurturing baby koi fries, to culling of baby kois. The most satisfying moment comes during the culling process, where you can see precious little baby kois with nice patterns, liken to "swimming jewels", glistening right in front of your eyes. At that moment, we always feel that the hard work over the past few months is totally worth it! :) Is it the same for you at mrkoi farm?

In fact, your website http://mrkoi.com/ and the posts you wrote on koi breeding, has been an inspiration for us, before and even during our koi breeding journey! Cheers. :)

    Hi,

Yes, same as with you. A lot of works has to be done before and after spawned. For me the best part is during harvest.

All the best to you and may you succeed in the future.
